A pioneer of Guided Imagery and Music, Carol was certified in 1979. Her more than 25 years of clinical experience have included a variety of mental health settings, including private practices in Miami and Virginia Beach . Her book, Healing Imagery & Music: Pathways to the Inner Self , Rudra Press 1995, is an important contribution to the GIM literature. In addition, she has authored scholarly articles for professional journals, and is a specialist in the use of mandalas and the MARI® Card Test. Currently she travels widely conducting workshops and training seminars.

Sara Jane Stokes

Clinician, educator and consultant, Sierra trained in GIM with Dr. Helen L. Bonny at the Maryland Research Center in 1973. Her doctoral work pioneered further applications of GIM. She is past Director of Music Therapy at

St. Mary-of-the-Woods College , Indiana . As a seasoned workshop presenter, her specializations include such diverse areas as GIM and the bodymind connection, leadership development, and spiritual formation. She has also produced a series of relaxation tapes used in health care settings, and is published in the AMI Journal, The Whole Mind , and Music and Miracles .

Faculty
Laurie Rugenstein, MMT, MT-BC, LPC, FAMI

Laurie Rugenstein is the director of the counseling track in the
Transpersonal Counseling Psychology department at Naropa University in
Boulder, Colorado. She also serves as a music therapist with HospiceCare
of Boulder and Broomfield Counties. She has facilitated GIM trainings at
Naropa University and Arizona State University, in addition to conducting
private  trainings. Laurie provides personal GIM sessions and supervision
for GIM trainees and LPC candidates. She is an AMI-endorsed Primary
Trainer.

Chris Brewer, MA FAMI

Chris Brewer is a trainer in therapeutic use of music and art as well as the integration of arts into education. She assists with MidAtlantic GIM trainings and is a teacher of the Mandala Assessment Research Instrument (MARI).

Chris has developed a Vibroacoustic Pain Management program for the Somatron Corporation and has helped to implement programs in Oncology departments, hospital settings and specialized school programs. Chris also teaches how to integrate music throughout public school curriculum as a way to learn academic content and as a positive, upbeat classroom management tool. She has taught for over 20 years in various settings including numerous university programs, public offerings and school inservices. She is the author of eight books including Rhythms of Learning co-authored with Don Campbell and her upcoming release, Soundtracks for Learning: Using Music in the Classroom.

 

Jim Borling

Jim Borling is a Board Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC) and Fellow of Association for Music and Imagery (FAMI). Currently, he is Director of Graduate and Undergraduate Studies in Music Therapy at Radford University in Virginia where he began working in 1982. He is also co-founder along with wife Nannette of MusicVisions, LLC; a private practice in Roanoke, Virginia. He has been a primary trainer now for many years and has worked both nationally and internationally facilitating all levels of training in the Bonny Method of GIM. Jim's areas of specialty include work with addictions and work with men's issues.

RILLA CLARK MSc, FAMI

Rilla's private psychotherapy and life coaching practice incorporates GIM, emotional bodywork, Voice Dialogue, EMDR, psychodrama and Vipassana meditation techniques to treat psychological trauma, foster creativity and facilitate spiritual transformation. She specializes in working with people who are in times of individual or family transition. Rilla provides personal sessions and GIM supervisions and is an associate trainer with Mid Atlantic Institute.

Ginger Clarkson

Ginger Clarkson, MT-BC, FAMI, has a private GIM practice that incorporates Vipassana meditation, subtle energy healing, core energetics and Gestalt therapy.  She conducts all levels of GIM trainings internationally, bilingually in Mexico and Spain.  Her book "I Dreamed I Was Normal" describes GIM with people who have autism.

Erin Johnson, M.Ed., LPC, FAMI is a Licensed Professional Counselor in
private practice integrating GIM, Solution Focused Therapy, and mind-body
approaches for personal, career and spiritual transformation.  She is also a
Life Coach, specializing in stress management, wellness and accessing
creativity.  She is actively providing all levels of GIM training.

Gina Kästele, Prof. Dr. is a Licensed Psychotherapist, working in private practice in Munich, Germany. In her work, she is integrating GIM, Hans Carl  Leuner work, Art Therapy and Shamanic Work. She is also the author of three self-help books and a supervisor for students, who are in the training in becoming clinical psychotherapists.

She is actively providing all levels of GIM Training and is also a teacher for the Mandala Assessment Research Instrument (MARI).

Presently, Gina is teaching GIM in Germany, Austria and South Africa.
